Parenting Teens

Is Parenting Teens Supposed To Be SOO Hard????

Are you confused or unsure how to interact effectively with your teen?

Wish you knew how to get your teenager to listen?

Tired of the conflict but you don’t know what else to do?

Whether your relationship with your teen is basically good and you want to make it better, or you’re actively struggling to maintain any kind of relationship with your teen, I can help.   As a parenting consultant who has raised six teens so far, I can help you improve your family dynamic and strengthen the relationship with your teen. My passion is helping parents create a home environment of harmony and respect!

Teenagers are amazing human beings and relationships with them can be a source of immense joy and satisfaction – but only if you understand their needs and how to connect with them.

I’ll teach you how to understand your role in the life of your teen, what their needs are and how to lovingly and effectively communicate with them even at the toughest moments.  We’ll explore your own triggers and needs as a parent – because your needs matter, too.  As you begin to shift your own perspective and behaviors, you’ll build a healthy framework of understanding and trust, transforming yourself and your family from the inside out.

So back to the original question – does parenting teens have to be SO hard?

Not if you have the right information and and the right guidance.

I don’t teach from the ivory tower of psychological theory.  Despite studying child development for years, it’s as a mother to a large family that I’ve learned what works and what doesn’t – and I can honestly say that I truly enjoy my teenagers (I have four right now)!

I combine an understanding of the needs of teenagers and the needs of parents to help you find a path that is a win for everyone.

If you’re tired of the confusion and want to move your relationship with your teenager to a better place, I can help.  I will help you gain insight and new tools, as I share with you what I’ve learned over years of parenting and teaching other parents.  You’ll become inspired to look at your role and your teenager in an entirely new light and take actions that will make your home a more harmonious and loving place.

I’m excited to offer a new series of workshops to help you positively connect with your teen – Parenting Teens with Compassion and Understanding (for yourself, too!).  This will offer you insight and inspiration along with hands-on practical strategies to transform your relationship with your teenager.

Does 20 classes seem like a loooong time?  Despite what some ‘parenting gurus’ would have you believe, there are no quick answers.  Forget ‘tough love’, ‘love tuff’ and ‘laying down the line’.  Those are bandaid solutions that will boomerang back at you and cause more problems.

Real changes that stick don’t happen overnight.  I’ll address what’s happening beneath the surface to help you understand what’s really going on and guide you in making changes that will last.  Not just last, but transform your relationship with your child.

In Parenting Teens with Understanding and Compassion (for yourself, too!), I’ll help you interact with your child as a strong, empowered and compassionate parent.

Some of the topics we’ll explore:

– Why connecting with your child is the source of your parental power

– Why giving up control is the smartest thing you’ll ever do as a parent

– What gets in the way of connecting with your child and how to change that

– How to understand and value the unique person your teen is

– Why threats and ultimatums will never produce lasting change

– Why some common techniques don’t work and what to do instead

– What unconditional love looks like

– How to effectively communicate with your teen, even in tough moments

– Learn to recognize your own needs and manage your own emotions

And lots, lots, LOTS more.

In order to makes this information accessible to you regardless of your location, this workshop series will be offered in a teleconference format, available by phone everywhere!

Parenting Teens with Understanding and Compassion teleconference classes will begin on December 20, and take place each Sunday, from 8:30 – 10 pm (IL)/1:30 – 3 pm (EST).

Each class will be an hour long, followed by an interactive 30 minute question and answer session.  Recordings will be available so you can review the class during the week and gives you the opportunity to make up a class if you have a scheduling conflict.  BUT live attendance is strongly encouraged so you can be part of the conversation!

Are you arguing with your teenager every day and tossing and turning all night?  Or  maybe your teen isn’t talking to you much at all.  Are you unsure of what to say and how to say it? Would it give you peace of mind to have weekly direction and support to change what isn’t working and move toward something that WILL work?

    1. After I finish running this teen series I hope to do one for parents of younger children. It would be based on the same concepts with the specific application geared towards to the issues faced by parents of younger children. Right now I’m thinking it would tentatively begin in the spring but I’ll be sure to let everyone know when we get closer to that!

    1. Hi, Moshe,

I offer the classes as teleseminars so that participants can participate from the comfort of their homes, wherever they are located! A teleseminar is when people access the classes by calling in.

  1. Avivah,
What is your email address? I’d like to email you privately to discuss some details/pricing of your class. Thank you!
