Baltimore dollar days this weekend

Okay, this isn’t going to be of much use to lots of my readers, but for those of you in the Baltimore area, this week is the annual $1 admission day to many area museums.  I personally haven’t yet taken advantage of this because: a) my husband works on Sundays so I don’t generally have use of our only vehicle; and b) being in very crowded areas decreases my enjoyment of the activity and since I can usually find ways to go to the places I want to go for very discounted prices as a school group without the crowd, that works well for me.

BUT – it’s a great opportunity for those who want to avail themselves of Baltimore attractions and don’t mind if it’s a bit squishy.  Here’s a link to a list of participating museums.

If you live in other large cities, there’s a good likelihood that your city offers opportunities like this, so take a few minutes to do some online searching if it’s something you’re wishing you had closer to home!

I’m with you regarding the crowds. And just because admission is cheap doesn’t mean that parking is!

Thank you! We did do this one other year when it fell out on Chanukah and my kids had a blast at Port Discovery. Despite the crowds, it was worth it, as my husband usually isn’t around on Sundays but he is Sunday of Chanukah and so we can all go together…

Just to add . . . if you bank with Bank of America, they have a museums on us program that runs the first weekend of every month. Admission is free for cardmembers at select museums. We’ve taken advantage of this a few times and it has been great! Although they did have a bigger selection of museums in previous years, they have grown more ‘nationwide’. Hopefully they’ll keep adding more places as time goes. http://museums.bankofamerica.com/

Someone else emailed me privately about this as well, and I was going to share it for others but you beat me to it! Thank you!

I didn’t know about the museums program from Bank of America. We actually do have one of their credit cards…
Unfortunately, the local museums don’t seem like the right type for my young kids. But that tip was much appreciated!
